Dipl.Ing. Marlene Wagner graduated with honours in architecture at the Vienna University of Technology and is co-founder of the NPO buildCollective for architecture and developmentIn collaboration with international NGOs and universities, community advocacy organisations and diverse public and private partnerships, she realised a big number of educational buildings, social and technical infrastructure, art and public space projects as well as organisational and educational development frameworks.
Based for several years in South Africa, further affiliations established with institutions of higher education and organisations in Germany, Italy, England, Switzerland, Sweden, Slovenia, USA, Tanzania and Kenia. Marlene has further been designing Formats of Learning and Tools of Engagement in the establishment of an Urban Mobility Lab in one of Europe’s largest urban development projectsShe presented her awarded work at international talks, workshopsconferences, publications and exhibitionsBesides projects and teaching Marlene pursues her doctoral studies: «Mapping ‘Social Architecture’: critical reflection and methodic experiment on cross-cultural and trans-disciplinary practice»Her great interest lies in the connections of spatial design and artistic research, participatory action, postcolonial critique, intersectional feminisms and decolonizing theory and praxis.
